Making Room for Magic
Anyone else out there a recovering perfectionist?
When I was sixteen, I was awarded a scholarship to attend a summer program at California College of the Arts for drawing and printmaking. This experience was a turning point in my creative journey, marking the first time I was encouraged to stop trying so hard. It wasn’t that the work required no effort—it demanded intense focus and presence of mind—but it was more about getting into that elusive “flow” state and embracing the unexpected. It’s the classic “90% preparation, 10% magic” equation.
Embrace Autumn with Us at the Hudson Valley Farm & Flea
’m especially excited because Three Birch Hill has been selected to participate in the 2024 Hudson Valley Farm & Flea! This special one-day event will take place on Saturday, October 12th, in the historic Museum Village of Monroe, NY. Why is this such a big deal? Beyond the opportunity to connect with a diverse group of local farmers, collectors, and makers, this event allows me to meet you in person! As a primarily virtual practice, this is a rare chance for us to connect face-to-face. I’m thrilled to showcase our exquisite pieces up close, where you can truly appreciate their craftsmanship and quality. But more importantly, this is a chance to share my passion for art, design, and a well-loved life with you.
Places You’ll Find Me
As a first time parent during the tail-end of the COVID-19 pandemic, I’m not sure I understood the probability that I could - or more likely would - experience postpartum depression or other mood disorders. I found myself feeling so alone, craving connection, but also confused as to how to reach out - even to my husband, other family, and my closest friends. The experience profoundly shook me.
